Xiluva Collective is a group of thespians based in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are trained thespians whose main focus is performance, applied theatre and youth development. Our aim is to tell stories that are relevant, educational and genuine. We dedicate ourselves in taking theatre to people who cannot afford to go to theatres; we have performed in schools, community halls and presented public performances.
We started this collective because we want to tell stories that are relatable to us and help each other grow. Being part of this collective has helped many of us to stay busy and work hard in keeping the passion alive. We create opportunities for ourselves and reach out to anyone who is willing to listen to us, support us and most importantly collaborate with us. We are constantly looking to make new connections. We spend a lot of time doing research on possible partners and sponsors to keep our collective up and running.
If we deny the languages of our street corners, the smell of our dilapidating shakes, the echoes of our church bells, the madness of our beerhalls & the darkness of our shebeen floors to come out of us alive we are committing suicide.
